We have written this quick-start walkthrough guide to welcome you to explore this program.
We had two goals in the development of this program:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first goal was to provide the end user with as much of Michael\u2019s information as possible presented in a clear and understandable manner.
<\/strong>Michael Moore\u2019s Herbal Research Guide<\/em> is a program developed in collaboration with people who have implemented his research in practical and holistic ways, intended as a guide for researching and bringing together all the hard archival work of Micheal Moore, American Herbalist extraordinaire and American Treasure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second goal was to make the program as simple as possible.<\/strong>
Micheal Moore\u2019s research is extensive, thorough and spans decades – it takes years of study to be able to recall and cross-reference the multitude of his work. This program is intended to be used by clinical herbalists, students of alternative medicine, professional healthcare providers, as well as novice researchers. This program has been developed to explore herbal effects of every herb archived, create unique formulations, explore these herbs and designed to present the collected knowledge of renowned herbalist Michael Moore in a searchable way<\/em>; with features like cross referencing, pdf and text clipboard options, search by herb or ailment, and more. This downloadable program is an excellent add-on to the extensive archives published on Micheal Moore\u2019s legacy website.<\/em>

Features and quick reference guide: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are over 400 herbs referenced in the program. Over 240 specific ailments are described with herbs used historically for each ailment. Preferred preparation methods are explained. All uses mentioned by Michael for each herb are covered. Additionally, all herbs are referenced by their Latin names.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Latin and common names: <\/strong>Michael Moore was insistent on the use of botanical names (Latin) as there are many and various common regional names for herbs. Therefore, we have included a common\/Latin (also Latin\/common) file at the pull-down menu labeled “Cross Reference” from the Home Screen as well as the “Formulations\u201d page. At almost any place in the program where you have the Latin name of an herb, with another click, you will find the common name.
PDF booklets included: <\/strong>A few of the PDF booklet files also have a cross reference index.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Herbal list and inconsistent naming: <\/strong>There are a few herbs listed under various names; at the time of this writing, it should be no more than 10. We have provided a reference pull down menu on the software called \u201cInconsistencies\u201d to help navigate these. 
Detailed Herbal information: <\/strong>Any herb not in Materia Medica listed will initially populate a \u201cNo reference in the program\u201d message. <\/strong>Simply click on the herb name and you will find more information on that herb. This software attempts to follow the same style and manner Michael Moore set up his booklets and other reference materials. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the status of an herb from August of 1995, go to \u201cMichael’s Library\u201d, pull down the Materia Medica and search for the herb.

Michael Moore\u2019s Dictionary<\/strong> is included. The Dictionary defines many of the medical\/technical terms used in the program. There are several medical terms not in Michael’s Dictionary and can be found in a standard Medical Reference Dictionary. Michael defines only those terms he feels need a more precise definition as it relates to herbalism<\/em>. There may be spelling variations of clinical herbalist terms with which you are familiar, but have different spelling or terminology, so you can attempt to search the term commonly used and the software may be able to pull up the answer. For example: cardiopathy is not in the dictionary but cardiopathies is in the dictionary. <\/em>If the software doesn\u2019t provide an exact match, you can select \u201cgo to the dictionary anyway\u201d within the context menu to search the dictionary for different terminology or spellings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n


Text\/notes\/form\/chart saving: <\/strong>You have the ability to add your own personal data to both the individual herb data and to the remedy files. It is not recommended that you save sensitive data outside of the scope of the herbal research you are conducting, please see our terms of use for more details. You can save a formula\/chart using the chart functionality. Printable \/ exportable forms are available to use, should you wish to save this information. Michael\u2019s explanation of the forms for your perusal in the \u201cchart\u201d pull down section<\/em>. The files dedicated to your information & notes have a 32,000-character limit, please export and backup your files regularly for optimal performance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Formulations: <\/strong>Over 20% of the program is the formulation piece; a very useful piece to this program, formatted to follow the style of Michael Moore\u2019s research. This section helps you understand the effects of each of 400 herbs on all 14 organ systems (For example: Upper GI sympathetic and parasympathetic actions and individual stress actions (Adrenalin, Anabolic and Thyroid). <\/em>This part of the program will also tell you if an herb is strongly stimulating, weakly stimulating, strongly suppressing or weakly suppressing<\/em> to each of the above systems, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Michael\u2019s description for each of these concepts (Deficiency and Excess)<\/em> as well his understanding of Fluid Transport Energetics, <\/em>as well as the various herbs to address an issue, (for example: Upper GI Excess)<\/em>, plus his \u201cOutline of Function\u201d<\/em> for each organ system are all included in this section of the software.
